Client: UK's leading auto insurer
and road services association.
The Automobile Association UK was formed in the year 1905,
with a view to protect the interest of motorists. Today it
has about 9 million members - one in three of all UK motorists.
It is Britain's biggest motoring organization with the world's
largest patrol force. It is Europe's biggest personal insurance
intermediary, and Europe's largest traffic broadcaster. It
is Britain's publisher of maps, guides, and atlases, as well
as the country's leading overseas travel insurer.
As part of its strategy to maximize access to high quality
low-cost global IT solution providers, the AA established
a relationship with VAST, through VAST's UK marketing agent,
for offshore maintenance support for a group of application
solutions built on a technology platform that was gradually
becoming outdated and difficult to maintain. The offshore
support covered applications that provided cartographic services,
external contracts' management, member complaints administration,
claim help-line, telephone invoicing, insurance retailing,
relay services and metropolitan police car breakdown service
A replicated hardware and software environment was established
to support and maintain the above applications from Chennai.
VAST stationed an analyst onsite to whom the end users reported
all faults and made requests for providing enhancements. Changes
requested by AA were documented under standard Change Management
Requests, estimated, built, tested and transferred electronically
to the client on a 24*7 basis.
