Client : A leading management education portal in Southeast Asia

The client, a leading Education and eLearning service provider specializing in management education and based in Singapore, designs, develops and deploys both customized and generic eLearning programmes for large international corporations. The programs are targeted mainly for clients in crossroad situations, where effective and quick training is required to tackle critical change processes.

The objective of the assignment was to develop an Internet based testing application, which provides support for online tests for students. The application was built to interact with the client’s proprietary Course Delivery System.

The testing application consisted of three modules:

The Designer Module facilitated the Designing of Multiple/Guided/Essay type of questions and possible answers, Attaching of graphic files as part of questions or possible answers, Defining of rules for the quizzes, and Choice based randomization of questions and answers.

The Evaluation Module facilitated Automatic evaluation of Multiple choice answers, Downloading and evaluating the guided and essay type answers, Reviewing and publishing of grades.

The Test Module facilitated the students to choose/write answers, permitted attaching word documents as answers for essay type questions, saving the questions/answers as draft and viewing the suggested answers after the completion.

The application runs on MSIE 4.0 and above and Netscape 4.0 and above, permits download of Pictures/Media files directly on the browser as well as file upload. The product design focuses on functional aspects, aesthetic and security aspects. A series of ASP and HTML pages were used to enable the assessment process.
