SmartChain, is a safe, secure and versatile information management solution for Remote Order procurement at the Point of Sale and Point of Distribution for the Supply Chain. SmartChain runs both on simple PDAs as well as on wireless enabled PDAs or Smartphones. It facilitates the timely acquisition of data and effective management of information related to order procurement and distribution of finished goods. SmartChain captures order information at the point of sale and uploads the information instantaneously to the central order management system electronically. It  downloads  order information from a central order processing or production  planning  system  either by wireless  or land line at the commencement of a day, shift or a period of delivery activity. It  feeds  in customer transaction information  including payment information where applicable at a Point of Sale or Delivery, instantaneously back to a central warehouse or intermediate stocking point. Using Smartchain, a distributor can update information on orders received, orders delivered, collections made or place fresh orders at the Point of Sale or Point of Delivery, while a retailer or restaurateur can place orders to his wholesale supplier or distributor remotely, anytime and from anywhere. SmartChain product suite helps organizations in the business of wholesale procurement, storage and distribution of fast moving consumer goods to greatly leverage technology to improve agent productivity in the field. Through wireless connectivity to a remote server, SmartChain enables the user to have access to critical information in real time and helps the field agent to forward accurate information near instantaneously to the base. 

The SmartChain Supply Chain suite consists of three application modules running on the PDA:

  • HanDiMan is an invaluable tool for Distribution Management.

  • Procure is an Order Procurement solution that enables faster electronic spot procurement verification of prospect data thereby reducing the sales cycle.

  • QuickCollect is a collection solution that enables faster and accurate collections of the receivables.

These solutions are wireless enabled by EtherMove, the communication module of SmartChain. This means the SmartChain solution can be hot-sync-ed wirelessly at any time and from anywhere with a back end relational database, so as to maintain up-to-date information instantaneously.

 

SmartChain integrates with portable bar-code scanners which facilitate capture of bar-code based data. Interfaced to a portable mobile printer, SmartChain permits the printing of invoices or distribution/delivery slips at the point of sale. Where statutorily permitted, SmartChain captures an authorized receivers signature as proof of acceptance electronically on the PDA screen, thus eliminating the need for any printing. To ensure data integrity of back office and related financial systems, SmartChain has been designed to deliver or pick up data from an intermediate storage area on the users central information system, thus ensuring that field users of SmartChain modules do not have access to other corporate data.  

 

In addition to these, SmartChain comes with a software based Deployment Manager which helps administer authorized users of SmartChain remotely. By this process a user organization is able to ensure protection of data and code on a PDA in the field, as well as disable or enable PDAs remotely; ensuring complete data integrity and safety of PDA based corporate information.  

 

SmartChain is modular in nature. Any or all or a combination of its modules can be installed. None of the SmartChain modules need additional investment in costly infrastructure. A SmartPhone/PDA is adequate to run all these applications and to reap the benefits of this technology.
