of the most well known retail bank’s in South Asia
The client is a leading global bank, headquartered in the
United Kingdom and having a significant presence in South
Asia. It has its Indian headquarters in Mumbai, with over
25 branches all over India.
One of the new areas of thrust for the bank in the Indian
market was the Credit Card business. The bank decided to make
a cautious foray into the then nascent Cards business in the
country with minimum technology investments. VAST undertook
the turnkey requirements analysis, design, development and
implementation of the complete front end systems covering
Applications Processing, Branch Applications Querying, ChargeBack
and Collection Systems.
The systems were implemented at the bank’s India BankCard
Centre in Bangalore, with a target of meeting the projected
growth to 50,000 cards in 18 months. However, with growth
far exceeding expectations, the technology solution was enhanced
by VAST and implemented regionally at six locations instead
of a single one, to meet a target of 250,000 cards.
Based on the success of this India implementation, the Collections
solution was implemented for the bank’s subsidiary in
Zimbabwe.
