Client : Indian subsidiary of
a global FMCG firm
The customer is the Indian subsidiary and a member of a large
global Anglo-Dutch Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) conglomerate.
The client is a market leader in many of its product lines,
which include Tea, Coffee, Instant Coffee, Foods and Spices.
The company's corporate office is located at Bangalore with
regional offices in various places across the country. The
client maintains its market leadership position by means of
a strong Dealer/Distributor network.
The
Logistics group of the client, based at the corporate office,
re-ceives sales forecast periodically from all the Area sales
of-fices & Regional sales offices. The group also processes
these data to give out Production Plans, Receipt Plans and
the Dispatch Plans to all the factories.
DPS
is a menu driven on-line system implemented at the various
factories of the client. The main objective of the system
is to opti-mize the dispatches at the factories.
At
the factories, depending on the plans from logistics, daily
plans are generated by the DPS and accordingly products are
produced and dispatched. Besides daily plans, DPS generates
dispatch related documents such as the Gate Pass and Stock
Transfer Note. The system also generates MIS reports and ports
data to the other systems installed at various offices of
the client, as well as its Logistics group.
The
turnkey computerization of DPS was carried out by VAST. The
system was designed using a CASE tool, with the project planned
and managed using a PC based Project Management package.
