Client A leading Realty related analytical services outsourcing firm

The client is a successful US based firm that does most of its analytically intensive work related to various real-estate transactions of its investor banks, as well as customers in the US. The analytical work is carried out by a team of qualified CPAs, or MBAs in Finance, out of the customer’s outsourcing facilities in Chennai, India. These facilities currently employ over 400 professionals and the client expects to grow this team significantly by the end of 2004.

The client’s technology environment is based heavily on the Microsoft platform including the SQL-Server RDBMS, IIS, ASP, VBScript and various related technology tools.

In an effort to streamline the activities of the small application software development team that supports the analysts in India and their supervisors and users in the US, the client commissioned VAST to carry out a health-check on all its technology initiatives in application software. The analysis covered eight specific major initiatives. All the initiatives were subjected to various quality measures by VAST’s software specialists, so as to be able to arrive at a quantified numerical health status measurement, using mutually agreed parameters of measurement. The resulting findings were presented to the client for further actions on retaining, rebuilding or scrapping various software products built in-house. As a corollary to the exercise, VAST conducted a training program to bring the software developers of the client up-to-speed in their appreciation of the challenges faced in applications development.
