Client : A specialist software products firm and Lotus Premium Partner in Europe and the US

The project was executed for a leading German Savings Bank’s captive internal publishing house. The client already had an effective Notes/Domino based e-Commerce System with a SAP R2 interface to their database. The system developed and implemented by VAST required a Lotus Notes client on the applicant side to be web-enabled so that it could operate within the framework of the client’s Intranet and is able to handle the information preparation and processing for clients who do not have Notes.

The application is accessed by users in over 600 locations. Users may also change the order of fields and GIF files to customise the screens. Workflow will handle the authorization of any such changes. The system allows for access controls and role specifications for database security.

The application enables end-users to make purchases, to place orders on-line using a personalized purchase basket. Special features also include display of embedded pictures directly on the browser and conversion to Euro available for all amount fields of the cost of the items. A Home Page was also designed and the application was able to run on independent web browsers like Internet Explorer and Netscape 4 or higher versions.
